Helping the Children of Belarus

Belarus Aid, a branch of Medicine & Chernobyl (UK) was formed in 1994. Our group is unique in that whilst all other M&C groups are committed to bringing groups of Belarusian children away from the contamination to the United Kingdom for respite visits, our role is primarily directed within Belarus itself.

Based in West Lancashire, Belarus Aid is staffed solely by a small group of volunteers whose sole motivation is to help the people of Belarus who today are still suffering the effects of the horrific disaster at Chernobyl. Our common purpose is to raise funds to help alleviate the suffering caused.

BELARUS AID

1994-2009   For fifteen years our role involved the following:-

            PROVISION OF HUMANITARIAN AID

            Delivering much needed humanitarian aid

             to identified areas within Belarus

                           PROJECTS

                          Performing refurbishing projects at

                           Hospitals & Schools within Belarus.

Members travelled to Belarus at their

own expense to be part of a work force

        Involved in refurbishing projects.

Presently  For a number of reasons including financial implications, insufficient volunteers at relevant times plus problems encountered with the Belarusian authorities, we have made the decision not to continue  work projects in Belarus but rather to  concentrate our efforts in a different direction,  In 2010-2011 we funded a carer at  Zhuravici Children’s Home +  we              purchased medicine for Olga and our very latest initiatives sponsoring and                                  supporting disabled  children in the town of  Rogachev.
