PROJECT 2009
OSIPOVICHI BABY HOSPITAL
July 2009 should have seen the project team fly out to Belarus for a two week return visit to the baby hospital in Osipovichi. Our project in 2001 completely refurbished this hospital, putting in new windows and doors, new wiring, toilets, showers, a kitchen and boiler, as well as repainting and putting murals on the walls for the children.
This year we were hoping to lay new flooring and refresh the 'well loved' decoration in this busy hospital. However, unfortunately the Belarussian authorities have closed the hospital at very short notice and we have been unable to ascertain the reason. Therefore, this year's trip has been postponed. Sergai - our Belarussian link is currently trying to gain more information and a decision about our next project will be made as soon as we have the information we need.
In the meantime we continue to raise funds in order that we can be ready as soon as we get the 'go-ahead' for the next project.
All our project team travel and stay in Belarus at their own expense, during their own holidays. Funds raised towards projects are spent solely on materials needed.
